Botox & Dysport is an extremely popular procedure to reduce wrinkles in the face and body.
Drugs containing botulin toxin (BT) such as "Botox” or "Dysport” were marketed commercially in 1997, but has been used since 1920. There are many clinical uses: problems with spastic muscle disorders, imbalanced eye muscles, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) of the palms. When BT drugs were used for other problems on the face, their effectiveness in wrinkle reduction was noted.
Results from BT drug treatment start to appear within three to seven days; more established wrinkles take longer to respond than finer wrinkles. The results may last up to six months. In cases where wrinkles are very deep, additional treatment involving filler materials about two weeks after the injection may be necessary for optimal results.
